On the A14 and many other trunk roads and motorways there are distances of many kilometres between junctions. In the event of a severe accident, traffic can back up for many miles and it can be hours before the carriageway can be re-opened.

ASSET SOLOGUARD® Emergency Crossing points are installed at selected locations so that traffic can be turned around in the event of such an accident. They can also provide access for emergency services. ASSET have trained many operatives from Carillons Incident Support Units to open these units in less than 10 minutes.
