Kirklees Metropolitan council chooses MASS

KIRKLEES METROPOLITAN COUNCIL CHOOSES ASSET MASS

With a variety of public, road and bridge safety aspects to satisfy, ASSET MASS steel barriers have been chosen by Kirklees Metropolitan Council to fulfil all ‘duty of care’ issues. ASSET MASS replaces cones, plank systems and water-filled barriers - most of which offer no proven vehicle containment under BS EN 1317 - 2 : 1998.

Kirklees Council operatives benefit from ease of installation, without the need to secure ASSET MASS to the ground, enabling the product to be both installed and uplifted from site to site within the road and bridge infrastructure of Kirklees. The base units allow different top sections to be added for specific jobs with each section being easily linked together.

Placed within many busy central town and city situations, the steel base and guard rails are vandal-proof and increase both public and traffic safety.

Kings Bridge has served the people of Huddersfield well over its long lifetime. With ever heavier commercial traffic now using the bridge, carriageway restrictions to one way became necessary whilst permanent bridge strengthening works were being considered.

ASSET MASS MINIGUARD® was installed in conjunction with traffic lights on the Kings Bridge, to safely reduce the bridge loading. ASSET MASS is ideal in low speed sectors where vehicles are restricted to 30 mph as it is fully approved to containment levels T1, T2 & T3 of BS EN 1317 - 2 : 1998.

Further applications within Kirklees, such as traffic management on the A651 Bradford Road, Birkenshaw and pedestrian protection on the city flyover, Huddersfield, show the versatility and convenient use of ASSET MASS within the Kirklees Council area.
